ForestFoods
We believe abundance is possible.

“It’s the little things citizens do. That’s what will make the difference. My little thing is planting trees.” Wangari Maathai

ForestFoods began in 2019 on a quarter-hectare pilot farm at the foot of Mount Kenya, and proved itself on a barren football pitch in Limuru. We planted the way nature plants densely, in layers, with patience and watched soil, water and life return.

We reject the notion that productivity, profitability and ecological restoration are competing objectives. The challenge is not choosing between ecology and economics, but designing systems that deliver both.

We grow. We transform. We educate.

Our goal is to #RegenerateKenya.

ABOUT US

ForestFoods is Kenya’s regenerative food system. We scale profitable syntropic agroforestry and grow certified-organic produce — vegetables, fruits, herbs, eggs, botanicals and essential oils — for homes, chefs and retailers who care where food comes from. We believe a farm should behave like a forest: many species, layered together, building soil instead of spending it. Our network is living proof — the 2019 Tamalu pilot farm on Mount Kenya, the 2.19-hectare Limuru flagship grown from a football pitch, partner outgrowers at Naivasha and Naro Moru, and ten coastal hectares coming at Shimba Hills. Led by chairman Marcos Brandalise and CEO Sven Verwiel, our team blends Kenyan, Dutch, Brazilian, British and American experience across agronomy, science, food and operations.

MeettheTeam

Meet the brilliant minds driving our mission forward.

We are farmers, agronomists, scientists, cooks and builders united by a simple conviction: the best food in Africa should be grown by systems that leave the land better than they found it.

Building living systems with skill and care

Farm operations under Samuel Njuguna and supervisor Julianna Mbeo, agroforestry in the hands of technician Beta-Julius and Chief Agroforester Guilherme Sobral — the team that designs, plants, prunes and harvests the layered systems, every week.

Growing the proof that regenerative farming pays — for land and people.

Our interdisciplinary team is devoted to building African agriculture’s living future.
